According to the evidence of a constable in the City Police Court yesterday, Abraham Yanklewick, 42, a Russian, was in the habit of picking up food from the city gutters and foraging in tramway and warehouse bins. Yanklewick was charged before Mr. J. fi. Berge, P.M., with vagrancy.

Constable A. S. Walker gave evidence that he had »eep the defendant accost several people in George-street on Monday, and when witness spoke to him. defendant said that he slept in Victoria Park.

Defendant, who said that he, did not want to go to the Salvation Army Home, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment.
